Guide: The fostering process

Support and training

Once you have been approved as a foster carer, you will be supported by your supervising social worker.

We offer our carers:

  • Comprehensive training packages local to where you live, before you care for young people and afterwards
  • Local support groups across our four different geographical areas
  • Peer support from experienced foster carers who can support you in your new role
  • Support from your own dedicated Supervising Social Worker allocated to support you
  • A year-round programme of activities
  • A dedicated Childrens Promoting Stability Team offering therapeutic support and guidance 7 days a week, including unsocial hours
  • Paid membership of professional organisations such as Foster Talk

We will continue to help you deliver the highest standards of care by providing professional support and training.  You will be expected to attend a minimum of six training events and six support group activities per year throughout your career with us.
