Interested in Remand Fostering?

Posted on: 2 March 2015

Fostering Devon needs specialist Remand Carers to offer young people from the age of 10 a stable family environment where they have the time and support to re-think their lives.

We need foster families who are able to look after offenders on a short-term basis, sometimes just overnight. Placements can be made with little or no notice, even on the same day; each is overseen and supported by a co-ordinator.

The young people may be waiting for criminal court proceedings, or bailed while awaiting a court appearance or may have been released from a young offender institution.

One adult is nominated as the main carer and needs to be at home all day. We pay a generous professional fee which includes day to day expenses for the young person.

We make sure that you are fully prepared, trained and assessed before starting your career as a remand foster carer. It has proved to be an effective and rewarding scheme which has significantly reduced re-offending.

If you would like to find out more, talk to a member of the Fostering Devon team on 0345 155 1077 or email foster@devon.gov.uk – your chat will be in complete confidence.
